“Down In The Bottom” is the next release from the Thin Ice album.
As I’m releasing this Willie Dixon written and first recorded by Howlin’ Wolf song tonight, on Oct 9th 2026, I received a message from my mother letting me know that tonight is my Oma’s 119th Birthday. RIP
As a twelve year old, it was she who inspired me to pursue music as a career, as she put it “…when times are tough…people will always appreciate a musician…”.
I used to play this song, one of my very favorites, on my first pro gig with Willie Jaye “The Texas Hurricane.” I have many cassette tapes of us playing this live, with him playing this guitar riff like the Hurricane he is! And without going back to listen to them, I attempted to play it just how I remember it sounding back then. Willie’s rhythm guitar skills are as good as I’ve heard in my fifty years of playing, so I can only emulate what the Cat was doing some thirtyfive years ago.
Thank You to all of my Friends who appear in this video, for it has always be you guys that met me “Down In The Bottom.”
Thank you to Baron Vohn Mrkva for many of the pictures that are screen-grabs from “Payin’ These Dues,” the video that he so generously produced for me.
Extra Special thank you to Marco Minnemann-Drums, a man so talented, he needs a Danger sign behind him!
I hope you all enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed recording it, see you soon “Down In The Bottom”! MT.
