We’ve been playing in La Jolla for the Haute Summer Nights Concert Series for the second year in a row and I must say that it’s been an amazing experience! Setting up and playing on a street corner may sound a little hum-drum and let me tell you, it’s a lot more like that video U2 made, where they’re playing on the roof-top and this huge crowd starts to gather! I think what’s most unusual about this type of “gig” or “show” is that the audience is free to leave at any time and has no attachment to the “venue,” since there isn’t one. So I find myself being really conscious of this and thus putting in “extra” effort to hold the audiences attention. Also, I enjoy the direct contact with the audience, since there’s no real “boundary” between the performers and the listeners. One last thing I’d like to point out is that we’re actually playing on the parking lot of the La Jolla Village Lodge, this is private property, which allows us to play an extra hour until 10pm! Further more on behalf of MT & The JAMM we would like to express our sincerest thanks to the Owners of the La Jolla Village Lodge for extending us every courtesy, you guys are the best! Our next show there is September 14th 6-10pm, please check our calendar for directions and/or location, we look forward to Rockin’ with you as always, MT!
